This document is intended to be posted on the Music Coast website and referenced from the Music Coast mobile apps and web app. It summarizes key disclosures and disclaimers for the Service.

1. Who may upload

Music Coast is an opt-in platform. You may upload audio, artwork, and related metadata only if you are:

  • the owner of the rights in the content (for example, an independent artist who owns their recordings and controls their songwriting rights), or
  • a label, distributor, publisher, or other authorized representative with written authority to upload and license the content to Music Coast.

If you are not sure you have the necessary rights, do not upload the content.

2. Rights you must have (masters + publishing + artwork)

Most music involves at least two sets of rights. By uploading, you represent and warrant you have the necessary rights and permissions for the territories where your content is available, including:

  • Sound recording ("master") rights - the right to authorize interactive streaming and offline listening of the recording.
  • Musical work (composition/publishing) rights - the right to authorize the use of the underlying song (melody/lyrics), including streaming and any necessary reproductions for offline listening.
  • Artwork and branding rights - cover art, images, logos, and any third-party materials included with the release.
  • Featured artist and contributor permissions - permissions from featured performers, producers, or other contributors where required.

If your release includes multiple writers, publishers, samples, or other third-party content, you must obtain all necessary permissions before uploading.

3. Covers, remixes, DJ mixes, samples (launch-safe rule)

To keep the Service safe and sustainable at launch, Music Coast may restrict or prohibit certain categories of uploads.

  • Covers (recording someone else’s song): may be prohibited unless you can demonstrate you have secured the necessary permissions for the composition and any required licenses in each territory.
  • Remixes, mashups, DJ mixes: may be prohibited unless you have written permission from all relevant rights holders (masters and compositions) for every included work.
  • Samples: prohibited unless you have secured all sample clearances (both master and publishing) and can provide proof upon request.

If Music Coast later enables "DJ/Remix" features, those features will be subject to stricter rules and proof-of-rights requirements.

4. The license you grant to Music Coast

You keep ownership of your content. However, to operate the Service, you grant Music Co LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide license to:

  • host and store your audio and associated files;
  • make technical copies needed for streaming (encoding, caching, and delivery);
  • distribute and make your content available to users through the Service;
  • publicly perform your content through interactive streams;
  • enable offline listening for eligible paid users (for example, encrypted, app-controlled offline copies);
  • display your name/artist name, artwork, and release metadata in the Service;
  • create short previews or clips for discovery and promotion within the Service; and
  • use your content for Service operations, support, and improving the platform.

This license is granted only for operating and promoting Music Coast and does not transfer ownership of your content to Music Coast.

5. Metadata accuracy

You agree to provide accurate metadata (for example, track title, artist name, contributors, and ownership information) and to update it if it changes.

  • Inaccurate metadata can cause payment errors and rights conflicts.
  • We may require additional metadata fields in the future (for example, ISRCs, writer/publisher info, or split information) as the Service scales.

6. Enforcement: removals, geo-blocking, and proof of rights

Music Coast reserves the right to remove content or disable features at any time to the extent permitted by law, including when:

  • we receive a credible copyright complaint or rights dispute;
  • we believe an upload violates these policies or our Terms of Service;
  • we cannot confirm rights when requested; or
  • we detect fraud, manipulation, or other abuse.

We may request documentation (licenses, agreements, permissions) to confirm your rights. Failure to provide proof within a reasonable time may result in content removal, monetization holds, account warnings, or account termination.

7. No guaranteed distribution or availability

Uploading to Music Coast does not guarantee that your content will be accepted, featured, or remain available indefinitely.

  • We may remove or limit content to comply with law, platform policies, or rights-holder requests.
  • Availability may vary by country/region and by platform (iOS, Android, web).

Existing ISRCs and release metadata

Music Coast accepts recordings already released through other DSPs and preserves the recording’s existing ISRC. A new ISRC should not be assigned to the same unchanged recording. A new or materially changed version, mix, edit, or recording may require a separate ISRC.

Upload or verification records should include the existing ISRC, UPC, version title, original release date, distributor, label/rightsholder, master owner, and writer/publisher metadata where available.

Open joining, Artist Verification, and trial releases

Music Coast is open-join. An artist does not need an invitation to create an account. Artist Verification may be used to confirm an official profile, rights, representation, profile control, release eligibility, or monetization eligibility. An established artist or rightsholder may begin with one release or a small number of tracks and expand later.

Sensitive verification documents

The public Artist Verification form may collect basic non-sensitive profile, catalog, contact, rights, and metadata information. Do not email sensitive identity, tax, banking, or contract documents. Music Coast will provide a secure submission link if those documents are required.

A secure link is temporary and permission-controlled. Sensitive files are encrypted at rest, restricted by reviewer role, access-logged, associated with reviewer identity and timestamps, and subject to configured retention/deletion rules. They must never be placed in a public uploads directory or exposed through a public URL.

Rights evidence that may be requested

  • Government-issued identification or company/label registration.
  • Proof of authority to act for an artist or rightsholder.
  • Master-ownership, licensing, distribution, label, management, or payout-account documentation.
  • Applicable non-U.S. tax forms, including W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E where required.
  • Sample, remix, artwork, featured-artist, synthetic-voice, likeness, or other third-party permissions.

Takedowns, territory restrictions, and account closure

Verified artists and authorized rightsholders may request track, release, territory, or account action using the identifiers and authority information described in the current Takedown & Account Closure Policy. Public removal may include online unavailability and revocation or expiration of future offline access while limited accounting, legal, fraud-prevention, and licensing/reporting records are retained.

Removing music or closing an account does not automatically forfeit an undisputed earned balance. Any remaining amount is subject to final provider reconciliation, thresholds, refunds, chargebacks, taxes, fraud review, and rights disputes.
