Kivett Bednar is a multi-talented musician, amp maker, and visual artist hailing from Austin, Texas, and currently based in Portland, Oregon. Known for his gritty Texas blues infused with the spirit of the Pacific Northwest, Kivett’s music is a soulful blend of heartfelt lyrics and dynamic guitar work. Growing up in Austin, Kivett was deeply influenced by the rich blues tradition of the area, sneaking into iconic venues like Antone's to see legendary musicians and practicing to his father’s old records. His passion for music led him to hone his skills at Berklee College of Music, where he developed his distinctive sound. Kivett has made significant contributions to the music scene with his various projects. He produced the award-winning album "Better Than I Was" for the Rae Gordon Band, which won the Muddy Award for Best Album in 2017. His band, The Pining Hearts, won accolades as Best Indie Rock Band and Best Local Band in Portland's Willamette Week’s Best of Portland 2017. Kivett’s latest work includes his album "Land of the Living," a collaboration with drummer Anthony Pausic, showcasing a fusion of blues with heavier guitar tones influenced by doom and stoner rock. He continues to push the boundaries of his craft, performing at notable venues and festivals, including the Waterfront Blues Festival. In addition to his musical endeavors, Kivett is an accomplished visual artist, creating custom canvases and painting installations in a Post-Prismatic style, often interpreted as landscapes with hidden meanings. His artistic work is an extension of his creative vision, further establishing him as a versatile and innovative artist.
